About the Hoopy Food

I'm Jason Snelders, an independent software developer based in Melbourne, Australia.

For almost 10 years I toiled away in corporate I.T. for a number of organisations. Finally, in July 2011, I decided I had had enough of working for other people. I decided not to renew my contract at the time and departed the office environment to take a well-earned break.

In the last 6 months I've taken up photography, travelled twice - including a trip to southern India - beat 4 years of depression, learnt to relax, read a lot of books, built software, wrote stories and over 400 blog articles and, now, I am working to build my own business and launch a number of ventures.

It's exciting times!

Who is Jason?

Entrepreneurially inclined. Artist. Software developer. Recreational cyclist. Daydreamer. A little bit dopy, a little bit drongo. Watcher of the world. I thrive on change.

In search of amazing people, great friends and ever illusive love.

I looking for the best, even in the worst.

A traveller at heart. Lover of the sea. A warrior spirit. Always trying to keep my body and mind fit and active (and failing the body often).

I dazzle the girls with my charming, disarming smile and woo them with a wicked twinkle in my eye (yeah right, who am I kidding!).

The most precious things in life are friends and time.

Introspective. Reflective. Very selective. And now, I'm told, a little bit narcissistic (and that's fine with me).

A man of many talents and grand ideas. Always learning, constantly searching, ever changing. I make mistakes and give my apologies. Broad minded but sometimes narrow focused.

Sometimes poor with my words but always with the best of intent. Good and caring at heart. Honest and straightforward, I cut through bullshit and say it as I see it. Yes, I can swear like a trooper and make no apology for it. Life is too short to fuck around! Living is heard, dying is easy... I choose hard! Diplomatic when needed but you won't find me holding back or sugar-coating my words.

You can sometimes find me on a dance floor, and occasionally I'm busting my signature move: "The Retarded Monkey". It makes people laught... at me. That's just fine :-)

Work

21 January 2012: I am currently setting up my own business (Vylesk Pty Ltd) and will sbe starting with a number of software/web ventures, including web development & hosting, and business consulting. 
All enquiries are welcome, however work will not commence until after 20 February 2012, after a short trip in the United States.
More will be revealed here in due course.

I no longer seek permanent (employee) work for other organisations. Nor am I seeking contract work for at least the first 3 months of 2012. I am, however, open to enquiries for freelance web development and business consulting.
